Your Instructor
Dr. Margarita Loukachkina is a distinguished Russian-American pianist renowned for her captivating virtuosity and rich tonal expression. She began her musical journey at the age of five, studying at the esteemed Gnessin School of Music in Moscow. At sixteen, she moved to the United States to study at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and later completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
Throughout her career, Dr. Loukachkina has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Chateau Beaufort, Luxembourg, and the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. She has been a recipient of numerous international music competition awards, such as the Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Paris and the Konzerteum International Piano Competition in Athens.
In collaboration with her husband, violinist Nikita Borisevich, Dr. Loukachkina co-founded the Borisevich Duo, an internationally acclaimed violin and piano ensemble. The duo has performed across the United States and Europe, earning acclaim for their exceptional synergy and artistry. They have been featured at venues including the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago, the Alden Theater in McLean, Virginia, and the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York.
Beyond her performance career, Dr. Loukachkina is dedicated to education, serving as a faculty member at institutions such as the Garrison Forest School, The McDonogh School, and St. Paul School, where she shares her expertise and mentors aspiring musicians.
